Dubai, UAE; 15 September 2026: Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the leading global financial centre in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region, has concluded its first participation in Dubai Mallathon, following six weeks of walking, running, and dedicated community activities at Gate Avenue. The programme culminated in a weekend run on Sunday, 13 September 2026, bringing together DIFC employees, their families, and residents of the community.
Dubai Mallathon was launched in 2025 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The initiative is led by the Crown Prince of Dubai Office in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council. DIFC’s first participation in this city-wide movement supports Dubai’s vision to enhance the overall quality of life by creating highly accessible opportunities for people to make physical activity part of their daily routines.
Throughout the programme, DIFC’s workforce of 50,000 was invited to take part in daily runs at Gate Avenue, alongside a series of dedicated activities, including the FLTR Community Run, an Emirati Women’s Day Run, and a Kids’ Run.
From 1 August, Gate Avenue was transformed into a 1.2km indoor, air-conditioned walking and running route. This provided a comfortable environment where DIFC’s community and visitors could remain active throughout the summer, regardless of their fitness levels. The daily programme, manaed on the ground by Dubai-based sports events organiser Peloton, offered participants the opportunity to complete laps with support from expert coaches who led warm-ups and cool-downs.
Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Real Estate Officer at DIFC Investments, said: “Dubai Mallathon created a simple and accessible way for people across the city to stay active during the summer, and we were proud to welcome the event to Gate Avenue for the first time. Over six weeks, we saw people come together through a shared focus on movement and wellbeing. This initiative reflects what we continue to foster at DIFC: healthy living integrated into everyday life, with meaningful opportunities for people to connect, participate, and thrive.”
DIFC’s participation in Dubai Mallathon forms part of its wider focus on wellbeing, alongside year-round initiatives including Yogalates Under the Gate and PULSE, supporting active and healthy lifestyles.
